Text: Artful Sentences: Syntax as Style by Virginia Tuft
Mentors: RJ Hembree, Carol Malley, Roy Berman
Masterful Sentences for Writers is an 8-Week Module Course
Mentored by T-Zero Quarterly Editors. 100% of the proceeds go toward
T-Zero's writer's fund. Masterful Sentences for Writers objective is
to review
and learn the many variations of sentence structures to improve
personal writing styles. Great sentences, the basic units of
thought, the stylistic components of all stories, poetry and
communications, are what separates average writers from great
writers, and understanding sentence syntax is easier than it
sounds. We'll evaluate sentences by many well-know authors from the
twentieth and twenty-first century. It's not all syntax and
analysis, but rather learning by example and emulation. Grammar
evolves and rules change, even more so in the digital age. We'll
show which rules you can break, which are obsolete, and which ones
matter -- and why they matter. Knowing sentence syntax gives you a
new set of guidelines allowing you to make stylistic decisions with
confidence. The most important thing I've learned personally in
researching this subject - I couldn't wait to start writing again.
I'm certain all who take this course will gain a renewed energy and
look forward to writing, revising and editing. I can tell you first
hand: editors will appreciate it too.
